The surgery was over before I realized it and I was able to use a walker to get to the car. I needed almost no pain medication, and stopped taking it altogether before the first week was over. The physical therapy was perfectly designed to maximize my recovery and my therapist Erika was very attentive to my needs and limits.
I was extremely apprehensive before the surgery, worrying about pain and physical limitations, but after only a couple of days I was pretty much back to my usual routine (with some limitations!). I came to realize that my old bone-on-bone knee had me in more pain than the surgery and recovery did.
